View No. 37 (2024): Music and Cultural Trauma (II)
This year’s issues of the journal Musicology focus on the study of music and cultural trauma, contributing further to current research trends in the science of music. Building on the theoretical, historical, and problem-oriented frameworks established in the previous issue, the “MainTheme” section of Musicology 37 presents five studies on art and film music. These studies examine various aspects of migration and diaspora, repression and censorship, as well as the intricate interplay between collective and personal trauma under dictatorial regimes. The authors primarily combine extensive archival research, biographical and textual analysis, shedding light on the intersection of music and trauma in various local contexts, while some also draw on theoretical discourses. The more extensive “MainTheme” is accompanied by the brief “Varia” section with two studies dedicated to Serbian musical past research. The “Scientific Review and Polemic” section presents recent publications by the Institute of Musicology of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
