This article examines Georgian folk-fusion music, a genre blending traditional Georgian music with Western popular styles, through the lens of cultural and economic values. It explores how the tension between viewing traditional music as cultural heritage and as an economic commodity affects the development of folk-fusion. The study highlights the genre's potential as a cultural ambassador for Georgia internationally, while noting its current lack of consistent support. The paper argues that achieving a balance between cultural authenticity and economic viability is crucial for the genre's growth and integration into the global music industry. It concludes that realizing folk-fusion's potential requires shifts in attitudes among musicians, audiences, and policymakers, as well as increased institutional support.
